Steven Dilley, owner of popular pizza establishments Bufalina and Bufalina Due, will soon be opening Palm Pizza, a NY-style pizzeria. The restaurant will be found at 1701 East Cesar Chavez Street, occupying the former Las Cazuelas Mexican Restaurant.
Eater reports that “the main star of Palm Pizza will be its New York-style pies, with thin crusts cooked in gas ovens. There will also be square slices, salads, and sandwiches. And because wine is important, there will be a small selection of domestic bottles and glasses. Then there will be beer and nonalcoholic drinks too.”
“This is a style I’ve always loved and have probably consumed more of than any other style,” Dilley said to Eater. “It’s the style I eat most often.”
The report adds that the name is a reference to the location’s palm trees, which will also refer to the eatery’s aesthetic.
“We had already been talking about a ’50s Palm Springs/’80s Miami color scheme and this played right into it,” Dilley told Eater.
Until Palm Pizza opens its doors, eager readers can sample Mr. Dilley’s work at Bufalina, located at nearby 2215 E Cesar Chavez.
