Locally owned and operated Local Foods will officially open its second Austin restaurant at 3800 N. Lamar Blvd. on August 21, 2026, bringing an expanded version of its signature all-day, farm-focused dining experience to the heart of Central Austin.
Designed as a neighborhood gathering place from morning through evening, the new Local Foods will serve lunch and dinner daily, Local Foods 38th & Lamar builds on the restaurant’s popular downtown concept with a greater emphasis on dinner, alongside daily lunch, coffee and matcha service, a full craft cocktail program and a spacious wraparound, dog-friendly patio. Weekend brunch will launch in September, bringing expanded morning hours on Saturday and Sunday. Designed by Austin-based Chioco Design, the bright, welcoming space was created for everything from morning coffee and casual lunches to happy hour and family dinners.
While the menu will include the signature dishes that have built Local Foods’ loyal following, the 38th & Lamar restaurant marks an evolution of the concept with an expanded selection of chef-driven entrées, fresh seafood, premium Texas beef, seasonal vegetarian and vegan dishes, and shareable plates.
“Our goal has always been to create restaurants that become part of the neighborhoods they serve,” said Martin Berson, partner at Local Foods in a statement. “The response to our downtown Austin location has been incredible, and 38th & Lamar felt like the natural next step. We live just minutes away, make regular trips to Central Market across the street, and couldn’t be more excited to bring Local Foods to a neighborhood we already know and love.”
Guests can expect signature favorites including the Crunchy Chicken Sandwich on a toasted Slow Dough pretzel bun, the Truffled Egg Salad Sandwich made with Swift Hill Farm eggs, the Seasonal Harvest Salad with Texas goat cheese and rotating seasonal produce. The menu will also feature standouts including Burger No. 40 made with Peeler Farms beef, Sashimi Tuna Bowl, Steak Frites, Golden Mango Curry, Classic Chicken Posole, Chopped Green Salad, Salmon Poke Bowl. For dessert, offerings include the Very Very Chocolate Chip Cookie, vegan Housemade Carrot Cupcake with buttercream-style frosting and Soft Serve Froyo topped with house-made Rock n’ Roll Cocoa Granola made with Homestead Gristmill oats, macerated Texas peaches and berries, Keeper’s Harvest honey, and Texas Olive Ranch olive oil.
Complementing the food menu is a full beverage program designed by Local Foods Group’s Beverage Director Mark Sayre, with cocktails designed for everything from brunch and happy hour to dinner. Highlights include the Blood Orange Margarita; Carajillo made with Katz Coffee cold brew, brandy, and Licor 43; the 38th Street Punch with two types of Planteray Rum, Allspice Dram, lime, and nutmeg; and the Passion Basil Bliss with Tito’s vodka, passion puree, soda, and passion pearls. A playful standout is the Soft Serve Margarita, topped with a shot of tequila for an adults-only frozen treat made for the Texas heat.
“Local Foods has always believed that great food starts with great ingredients,” said Zack Sutton, Executive Chef of Local Foods Austin. “Working with Texas farmers and producers allows us to create menus that evolve with the seasons while staying true to the dishes our guests know and love. This new restaurant gives us the opportunity to expand that vision even further with more dinner offerings, new seasonal dishes and a space where people can gather morning, noon and night.”
That commitment to local sourcing remains central to the new North Lamar location. Local foods works with dozens of Texas farmers, ranchers and artisan producers, including Peeler Farms, Falcon Lake Farms, Swift Hill Farm, Mill-King Market & Creamery, Slow Dough Baking Co., Leven Bakery & Cafe, Phan’s Fresh Tofu, Sprouts Alive, Keeper’s Harvest Honey, HiFi Mycology and many more, creating seasonal menus built around the best ingredients sourced from across the state.
Local Foods first expanded to Austin with its 2nd Street District restaurant in June 2022, following the success of its four Houston locations. The Austin restaurants are locally owned and operated by University of Texas graduates Martin Berson, Benjy Levit and Dylan Murray, whose longstanding ties to the city continue to shape the brand’s growth and community-focused approach.
In addition to dine-in service, Local Foods will continue offering catering for gatherings of all sizes for office lunches, meetings, celebrations and events throughout Austin. To explore catering menus or to place an order, visit catering.localfoodstexas.com.
