Chotto Matte, the Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant or Nikkei cuisine restaurant intends on coming to Philadelphia in the future. Since the opening is quite a long way off, there is not a specific location identified for the restaurant as yet. There are three Chotto Matte restaurants open now: one in London, England, in the Soho district, one in Toronto, Canada, in the downtown area, and one in Miami‘s South Beach. Per an emailed statement from Chotto Matte, What Now Philadelphia was informed that any timeline for the restaurant’s opening would be preliminary at this point.
The founder and owner Kurt Zdesar talks about the restaurant’s concept on the website which says, “Chotto Matte, embraces the very best of Nikkei (Japanese—Peruvian) cuisine, with bold eye-catching natural colours and mouth-watering taste sensations. The two cultures share a deep appreciation for fresh fish and seasonal ingredients, with Japanese sushi and sashimi, and Peruvian ceviche central to their gastronomy. Nikkei is a unique blend of these culinary traditions, a lively combination of Japanese and Peruvian ingredients and techniques. Thanks to our well-respected chef, Jordan Sclare, we are internationally renowned for our artistic approach to this exciting cuisine.”
The website also lists a number of other sites for Chotto Matte restaurants that are coming soon, another London location in Marylebone, one in Doha, one in Ryiadh, one in San Francisco, and one in Beverly Hills.
