A brand new Art Deco-inspired restaurant, George & Gather, will open early next year in Chandler at 336 S. Washington St.
This new concept is set to become downtown Chandler’s new all-day hangout spot in January 2025. George & Gather will be open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Customers are encouraged to pop in for coffee and pastries, sip and linger at a full cocktail bar and spacious indoor-outdoor patio, or bring home the goods from the grab-and-go market. George & Gather also features two private spaces, perfect for community gatherings, business meetings, cooking classes, and even chef-pop-up dinners.
“Inspired by The Great Gatsby, the Art Deco-style décor is brimming with rich walnut woods, striking stylized tilework, and glimmering brass fixtures, all situated beneath a restored vintage ceiling,” according to the company’s website. “Housed inside a beautifully restored mid-century building on Washington Street, our name is both a nod to the Founding Father, as well as our welcoming neighborhood approach. Grab a spot at the marble-topped community table, or cozy up in one of the intimate banquette booths, and watch your dinner prepared in sight at the gleaming exhibition-style kitchen.”
This new concept is owned and operated by Amber and Mike Kovarik, the former of whom attended Arizona State University. The Kovariks have partnered with Flagstaff chef Fiona Nicholson to consult on the menu, according to Phoenix New Times. Customers can expect specialty coffee drinks, pastries in the morning, and gluten-free, vegan, keto, and paleo-friendly treats. During lunch, the menu will pivot to be centralized around organic salads and sandwiches. The restaurant’s dinner menu will be much more expansive, featuring a variety of small plates and entrees. Another dinner menu highlight will be a sourdough pizza made with a 130-year-old sourdough starter.
“Dedicated to using clean, organic ingredients and always free from seed oils, our dishes are served up in a welcoming space that offers a dining experience that’s as nourishing as it is enjoyable,” according to the company’s website. “Serving up a robust counter-order breakfast and full-service lunch and dinners, George & Gather also welcomes the neighborhood with an indoor-outdoor bar, a spacious covered patio with fireplace and great music, and a dedicated market serving grab-and-go meals, a wine bottle wall and locally-made merch and products.”
