According to a recent permit filing, Kuro Toro Sushi aims to debut in the Boise area at 3450 N Williams Avenue.
“We are still waiting on the building permit, I will know more once the city gets that approved. Hopefully, this will be the last submission,” Ziwei Liu, one of the brains behind the operation, told What Now Portland.
Hamano Sushi’s previous owner is no longer involved with the concept after selling to the new owner of Kuro Turo back in September. The concept now has changed its approach entirely down to the chopsticks, a representative of Kuro Turo told What Now Portland.
For some context on Hamono, the company’s website describes the concept as “Drawing inspiration from timeless flavors, Hamono presents a vibrant, innovative, and reverential take on Japanese cuisine.”
“Experience the essence of authentic Japanese cuisine as we bring you the freshest fish sourced weekly from the renowned Toyosu fish market. Our commitment to quality ensures that every bite at our restaurant is a true delight, with each dish showcasing the unrivaled flavors of the day’s catch.”
Kuro Toro Sushi will become a part of The Canyons Alley, according to Loop Net. The Canyons is a multi-family property built back in 2020 and boasts 110,000 square feet of space.
The Canyons Alley is described as being “Behind the main entrance of The Canyons is a unique open-air marketplace; a corridor of small shops and services, and host of pop-ups and special events. Modeled after Japan’s narrow, bustling Yokocho alleys, which are packed with eateries and small shops, The Canyons Alley is an intimate, engaging passageway where you can eat, shop, stroll, and people-watch.”
Edited to reflect updated information given by the owner after the initial publication of this article.
The folks behind Kuro Toro Sushi are also behind Hamono Sushi. Hamono’s website describes the concept as “Drawing inspiration from timeless flavors, Hamono presents a vibrant, innovative, and reverential take on Japanese cuisine.”
ZIWEI LIU She is not the owner of Hamono Sushi now. She sold her business in 2024. Please do not mention Hamono. You can say she used to run hamono sushi. Please edit
