Wicked Maine Lobster’s upcoming National City location, which was announced over a year ago, is still planned and in development, though there’s no opening in sight, Co-Owner Eric Howard told What Now San Diego Friday.
Wicked Maine is scheduled to be a tenant in the Market on 8th food hall in National City, which itself is still on track to open in 2021.
The fast-casual seafood eatery has faced logistical challenges in opening its fourth San Diego County location due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Howard said.
The Carlsbad location, which opened last summer, was announced alongside the National City storefront. A timeline of 2020-2021 was given for the pair of locations, but it’s unclear whether the National City store will make that deadline.
Wicked Maine Lobster first opened its doors at Liberty Public Market on 2820 Historic Decatur Rd in San Diego. Since then, it’s added locations in the Little Italy Food Hall and Carlsbad. Besides National City, there are three stores planned to open in 2022 in Los Angeles (Culver City, Topanga, and Edin Park) and one planned for this year in Waikiki in Honolulu, Hawaii.
