A neighborhood market may soon replace the vacant Walgreens at 3502 Summer Ave, situated on a 1.89-acre parcel of land.

On September 4, 2024, Dwight Barker of Collierville’s Ran Management Group submitted a major modification request to the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning & Development.

The plan involves transforming the 14,490-square-foot Walgreens into Highland Neighborhood Market, a versatile establishment featuring a fueling station, bakery, coffee shop, utility bill payment station, and other services.

Barker emphasized the benefits of this transformation, noting that the new market would provide residents with a “convenient and accessible” location for fresh produce, essentials, and a variety of other goods and services close to home.

He also highlighted its potential to foster community spirit, boost local economic growth, create jobs, and enhance the area’s vibrancy and sustainability.

Ran Management Group operates a plethora of gas stations, convenience stores, retail centers, and community plazas across Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia, Connecticut, Texas, and Florida.

The Highland Neighborhood Market proposal will be reviewed by the Land Use Control Board on a date to be determined, so keep an eye out for updates.
