Lendlease recently announced the first two retailers to take over spaces in the global real estate group’s The Cooper, a 29-story luxury high-rise apartment development in Chicago’s Printers Row. In addition to a new Tatas Tacos location, The Cooper will house a bottle shop concept from the creators of South Loop Market.
Co-owners and brothers Jamil and Samir Kanan will bring Hops & Scotch to a 1,286 square-foot storefront at 720 S. Wells St. The bottle shop will offer patrons a serious array of beer, wine, and spirits. You can also expect to find non-alcoholic beverages, mixers, and grab-and-go food items, according to a press release.
“Our goal with Hops & Scotch is to put a new spin on an already successful model while expanding the retail options available to new and longtime residents of the neighborhood,” said Kanan, who founded South Loop Market in 2009, said in the press release. “As someone who has lived in the South Loop and operated a business here for many years, I wanted to be at the forefront of new residential and commercial development along Wells Street, spurred in part by infrastructure projects like the Wells-Wentworth Connector.”
No word yet on when precisely you’ll be able to swing in for a bottle of craft beer, but the press release notes the shop should be open by the end of this year.
The Cooper is part of Lendlease’s 7-acre Southbank development. The building houses a 452-unit community of studio, convertible, and one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as penthouses and townhouses.
Hops & Scotch doesn’t have a web presence just yet, but you can see what the owners are all about by visiting South Loop Market online.
