PLANTA, an innovative plant-based restaurant inspired by all parts of the world, is opening a new location in Chicago.

This new location, the second in Chicago, will be a PLANTA Queen, compared to the company’s standard PLANTA restaurants found throughout the U.S. and Canada. PLANTA Queen’s can be located in Toronto, South Florida, New York City, and Bethesda. A representative from the company was not able to disclose the location of this new restaurant but was able to inform What Now Chicago that the project was well over a month away from being ready to open to the public.

Co-founders Steve Salm and David Lee started PLANTA in 2016 to expand the accessibility and acceptability of plant-based dining. They take pride in reimagining and revitalizing the power of plants to provide flavorful dishes while being environmentally sustainable. PLANTA has new locations coming to SOHO, Marina del Rey, and Brentwood. The first PLANTA in Chicago can be found within The Cafeteria Chicago, a multi-restaurant concept with four other restaurants.

“We believe in the power of plants to change the world,” according to the company’s website. “For our health, for the health of our communities, and for the health of our planet—plants are the key. In everything we do, we seek to understand, experiment with, and maximize the power of plants to nourish, inspire, and sustain. We strive to operate in a paperless and reduced-waste environment, eliminating paper cheques, printed materials, and one-time-use water bottles and coffee cups.”
