Hibachi-style restaurant Wu’s House is getting ready to open its sixth location, this time in Naperville, located at the corner of Beebe and Fitness Drives.
Naperville’s planning and zoning commission recently voted unanimously to allow the restaurant to operate with fewer parking spaces than required by city code, according to The Daily Herald. To fix this issue, owner Michael Wu was able to secure an additional 50 parking spots from nearby businesses, including X-Sport Fitness and KLA Schools of Naperville West. The company currently has locations in Evergreen Park, Merrillville, Ind., Mokena, Orland Park, and Palos Park.
“I think it looks great,” Anthony Losurdo, the commission chairman, tells The Daily Herald. “It’s a big restaurant … pretty amazing.”
Although an official opening date has yet to be established, hibachi fans will likely see this new 16,263-square-foot restaurant open sometime next year. When it does open, customers can expect classic Japanese-style hibachi, as well as Chinese, Thai, and sushi options. Before any further steps are taken, the restaurant must face the city council one last time for final approval.
“The total capacity will be, if all tables were to be filled, about 400 seats in the restaurant,” Marcia Owens, the attorney representing Wu’s House, tells The Daily Herald. “This is the type of restaurant where people come together and dine communally. There’s typically more than one person in a car.”
