A new restaurant called Lost Isle is headed for Johns Island.
The restaurant comes from the creators of Root Note, a popular food truck that was founded in 2017 and began a residency in the yard of Charleston Pour House in 2021. Known for its southeast Asian inspired southern soul food, Root Note closed down in February. The owners, Josh and Maggie Taylor, noted at the time that they were shuttering the project to focus on a new venture.
Now, they’re taking that new venture public with the announcement of Lost Isle, which will open on Maybank Highway next to Tattooed Moose. The building formerly held Braised In The South, a barbecue spot from Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race winners Brandon Lapp and Steve Klatt which closed last year.
It’s not clear whether the Lost Isle menu will reflect the offerings of the Root Note food truck. An Instagram account introduces the concept as “Good times, great cocktails, and delicious food.”
No opening date for Lost Isle has been announced.
