Colorado will soon get four new Korean fried chicken restaurants with the expansion of bb.q Chicken. The first Colorado bb.q Chicken location is expected to open at 2495 S. Havana St., Unit H, Aurora, CO 80014 within the next month, depending on the health inspection process.
Co-owner Alex Lee told What Now Denver three more bb.q Chicken locations will open in the Denver area in 2022. Demolition at the second space started today in the former Tokyo Joe’s at 1360 Grant St. in Denver. If all goes well, Lee hopes the first Denver location will open by the end of April.
“With all the popularity with Korean culture right now with K-pop and all the K-dramas,” Lee said, “the Korean culture is the biggest thing we want to bring.” The menu will also bring lots of flavorful dishes.
Since it was founded in the United States in 2014, the bb.q Chicken brand has grown in popularity. The brand plans to have 200 restaurants in the U.S. by the end of this year.
Lee has two other Colorado locations planned. He plans to soon sign a lease for an Englewood location to open sometime this summer. A fourth restaurant is being planned for Littleton with an expected opening date about eight months out.
Updated article to remove sentence: Lee thinks bb.q Chicken will have 150 restaurants in the U.S. by the end of this year, with 400 expected across the country in the next three to four years. Changed expectation to 200 restaurants in the U.S. by the end of the year.
