A new Thai restaurant is coming to town, courtesy of the owner of several beloved eateries around the city. Somdee Thai Kitchen will open at 1598 E 17th Ave., liquor licensing data shows.

The business recently applied for a liquor license, and made an Instagram account. That platform states “Coming soon! We’re bringing flavors from Thailand to your plate.”

Other ventures by owner Orrapan Botthaisong are downtown eatery Daughter Thai and Edgewater’s La Mai Thai Kitchen. Botthaisong immigrated to the U.S. from Thailand a decade ago.

There is no word yet on what the menu at Somdee Thai Kitchen will be. At La Mai, the menu consists of Thai specialties inspired by home-cooked favorites from Botthaisong’s homeland. With the liquor license filing, it appears there will also be alcohol of some kind available.
