Blue Star, a longtime staple of the Colorado Springs dining scene, is set to make its highly anticipated return after closing its doors in 2017. Eight years later, the owners are working to finally reopen and welcome guests again at the 1645 S. Tejon St. property, The Gazette reports.

The official website for Blue Star confirms its imminent reopening, stating, “After 30 years of striving to perfect the art of dining, providing service for thousands of guests, and acting as a gastronomic staple in Colorado Springs, we are very excited to reopen The Blue Star in 2025 and build upon this celebrated concept.”

Joseph Coleman, founder of Blue Star Group, first opened the original Blue Star in 1995 in Old Colorado City before relocating it to South Tejon three years later. Coleman told the Gazette renovations are underway and several permits still need to be secured before an official opening date can be scheduled.

He showed the publication details about the new design, with a large bar and lounge area at the entrance, a fireplace, and an open kitchen concept. Behind the main kitchen, a commercial kitchen with rentable space will be available for private chefs and caterers. A designated area for private events will also be included.

According to its website, The Blue Star Group operates several other restaurants in Colorado Springs, including Principal’s Office Coffee & Cocktails, Stellina Pizza Café, Gold Star Bakery, Decent Pizza Co., Ivywild Kitchen, and La’au’s Taco Shop. The company describes its mission as “strengthening our community through radical hospitality.”
