Asso Pasta Bar & Wine, the restaurant that replaced Blossom in April, quietly closed its doors mid-October.
A post to the restaurant’s Instagram page indicated the shutter was temporary citing “building issues.”
It turns out that was a cover story, kind of.
An Italian restaurant will, in fact, open in the space, but it won’t be Asso, Owner Alessandro Paciotti told What Now Los Angeles Tuesday in a telephone interview.
Instead, the restauranter will open Romeo in its place as early as December, or January.
In transitioning the concepts, Paciotti has fired his Chefs and is bringing in a new investor, he said.
The entire space, at 4019 W Sunset Blvd, is getting a redo, including the kitchen.
“We are getting another kitchen, another menu,” Paciotti said.
“We are renovating everything, we are changing everything, we’re going to be more of a wine bar.”
The “authentic Italian” food served at Asso isn’t going away but will be tweaked to reflect the new restaurant.
In addition to its wine, tapas will be at Romeo’s focus.
Paciotti is toying with the idea of offering prefix options where his culinary team will pair a few tapas with wine.
Pasta and pizza will still be on the menu, which Paciotti hopes to have finalized in November.
