Starbucks Looks to Replace The Pancake Factory in NoHo

A brand new Starbucks is looking to make its way to North Hollywood, located at 6534 N. Laurel Canyon Blvd.

In partnership with Laurel Venture, LLC, the company has recently submitted documents to the Los Angeles Planning Department to open a brand new location in the former home of The Pancake Factory. If approved, the company will build a new 1,150 square-foot Starbucks with no indoor seating and 11 parking spaces. The new Starbucks will have a drive-through that can fit 15 cars at a time. Considering the existing restaurant will be demolished to make room, there is no set opening date for this new coffee shop.

The Seattle-based coffee chain has locations scattered throughout Los Angeles County, with eight Starbucks in North Hollywood alone. Despite the number of locations throughout the county, this will become the primary coffee shop on Laurel Canyon Boulevard. The only other coffee shop near the proposed site is Lilit Bakery & Cafe.

Earlier this week, two Starbucks locations in Southern California recently initiated a vote to form a union. Starbucks employees in Long Beach and Covina hope this accomplishment will improve working conditions at the internationally-known coffee shops. Employees in Long Beach, at Redondo and Seventh Street, hope to have the results back by mid-May. Covina, on the other hand, at Rowland and Citrus Avenue, is scheduled to vote in the next four to six weeks. If approved, these will become the first Starbucks in the region to unionize.
