Wicked Bagel is set to charm Watertown at 68 School St in March of 2024. Owned by Maria and Jack Mahoney, this bagel haven already boasts two successful branches in Lexington and Woburn. While Jack may humorously claim to be on his wife’s payroll, it’s clear that the couple shares a passion for quality food.

Maria—a self-proclaimed foodie—said that the Watertown menu will be expansive, utilizing a much larger space. In addition to its classic bagels, the restaurant will offer weekend brunch with mimosas and traditional favorites like French toast, eggs, and omelets. The Mahoneys are in the process of completely transforming the space, introducing an outdoor patio equipped with heaters and seating for around 40 patrons. Live music might even be offered during the summer months.

Maria’s inspiration to open a bagel shop in the area was born when she spotted a gap in the market. Upon returning to Massachusetts after living in New York City, “we couldn’t get a decent bagel anywhere,” Maria recalled. “I jokingly said to my husband, ‘Why don’t we open a New York-style bagel shop?’ And here we are seven years later, about to open up our third store.”

With Maria’s passion for food and the couple’s dedication to creating an authentic bagel experience, Wicked Bagel in Watertown is poised to become a hub for bagel and brunch lovers alike, offering a welcoming space to savor the simple joys of a ‘wicked’ good bagel.
