Nestled behind a charming takeout window in the heart of Roslindale lives Exodus Bagels, a modest neighborhood bagel shop with a not-so-modest following. Founded by Priscilla Andrade and Adam Hirsh in 2014, this bagelry is preparing for a culinary evolution, with plans to transform its 2 McCraw St space into a welcoming sit-down shop.

Pending a pivotal meeting on December 18th, the duo envisions not just expanding the space but also the menu, as well as revolutionizing the service dynamic. The objective? To offer a diverse experience, ranging from window pickups for dozens of bagels to an intimate indoor setting for open-faced sandwich orders. Adding to the excitement, Exodus plans to roll out an espresso program in 2024, catering to the preferences of local coffee enthusiasts.

With aspirations to host up to 90 occupants, including staff, the owners aim to provide immediate service for 30 to 60 patrons. Acknowledging the complexity of the renovation timeline, Andrade expresses the desire to maintain some level of service during the transformation. This includes staying open and adapting services as needed, potentially leaning toward bulk or catering approaches.

But behind the bagels lies a deep-rooted commitment to community. Emphasizing a slow-growth philosophy, Andrade highlights the family-oriented ethos that has been the bedrock of Exodus Bagels since its inception in 2014. Drawing inspiration from their origins at the Egleston Farmers Market, the owners aim to cultivate an environment that invites patrons to gather in “an inclusive, welcoming, fun, casual, and family-oriented space.”

From a cozy cottage business to a bustling bagel hub, Exodus Bagels has weathered its fair share of challenges over the years, remaining steadfast in its commitment to family, community, and exceptional bagels. Join the virtual discussion about this exciting transformation on December 18 to become part of the narrative shaping Roslindale’s newest community haven.
