The Fat Greek, a popular fast-casual Haverhill eatery known for its handcrafted Mediterranean fare and generous gyros, is gearing up to open a second Arlington restaurant located at 185 Massachusetts Ave.
The first location came to fruition amid the challenges of the pandemic, as co-owner Panayiotis Panourgias stumbled upon the vacant space during a lockdown-induced drive in 2020. Swift action ensued, with friends and owners Alexander Kalathakis and Panourgias securing the lease just two weeks later.
With a grand opening slated for March 2024, patrons can expect offerings that align with the original Haverhill menu. This includes the signature loaded gyros, souvlaki, rice bowls, big salads, pita, fries, and an array of vegetarian and vegan options. Additionally, sweet indulgences such as loukoumas (Greek fried donut holes) and an assortment of Mediterranean-style soups, spreads, and desserts will grace the menu. To complement the culinary delights, the restaurant will also serve beer, cold brew, and a selection of Greek-imported sodas.
As The Fat Greek’s second location takes shape, Arlington locals can look forward to traditional Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist. Stay tuned for more specific details as this development comes to life.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this article incorrectly listed Kozma Kolagji as one of the owners of The Fat Greek. The correct owners are Alexander Kalathakis and Panayiotis Panourgias.
