A Venice, Italy-based takeout pasta chain is expanding with its first two locations in the Boston area.
DalMoros Fresh Pasta To Go will soon open at Faneuil Hall in downtown Boston and the new CanalSide Food Hall at the CambridgeSide Galleria Mall in East Cambridge, according to a Boston Restaurant Talk report.
The new sites will be overseen by David Caruso and his family, who brought the DalMoros franchise from Italy to the U.S. in 2021 and hold the exclusive rights to operate it across the country.
Caruso shared his enthusiasm for the brand with What Now Boston, stating, “My father and I went to Venice in 2021 and discovered the brand and we immediately fell in love with it.” During that visit, they met with founder Gabriele Dal Moro and discussed bringing the concept to the U.S.
Later that year, the Carusos opened their first DalMoros location in St. Petersburg, Florida. They now operate five sites in Florida.
DalMoros offers a build-your-own fresh pasta experience, where customers can choose their pasta, homemade sauce, and toppings. Each meal is served in a convenient to-go box reminiscent of Chinese takeout containers. Dishes are prepared to order on-site, right in front of the customer, providing what Caruso describes as “dinner and a show.”
The sauces adhere to traditional Italian recipes from the original Venice location, and all pastas are prepared without eggs, making them vegan-friendly. The menu includes a range of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, along with desserts like homemade tiramisu and frozen lemon sorbetto.
While no dates are officially set in stone, Caruso hopes to open the Faneuil Hall location in late September, with the CanalSide restaurant to follow in late October.
“Boston has a special place in my heart,” said Caruso, a former student of Boston University and MIT. “…It’s always been a goal of mine to find a way back to Boston,” and “DalMoros has made this dream a reality!”
