A new American grill is slated to open this fall in the heart of Detroit’s downtown.
Oakland County couple Brandon and Karissa Davis are the main thrust behind Presley’s Kitchen + Bar, an upscale restaurant coming soon to the ground floor of the historic David Whitney Building.
“Putting a restaurant in a famous building … you walk out the door and look to the right and see Ford
Field and Comerica Park. It’s next-level cool and we are super excited about it,” Brandon Davis told Detroit Free Press.
The new restaurant will be one of several changes for the Whitney Building, which is in the midst of a $94-million restoration. The 108-year-old skyscraper on the edge of downtown Detroit’s northern cusp sits across the street from the iconic Grand Circus Park.
The Roxbury Group, a Detroit-based real estate firm that led the effort to redevelop the 19-story skyscraper, announced Presley’s forthcoming arrival in a news release this week, according to media reports.
“We looked for a long time to find the right partner for this space at the David Whitney,” Roxbury Group’s founder and principal Stacy Fox said in the release. “This building is special to Detroiters, and we wanted to be sure that the concept was something that would enhance the experience of guests, residents and visitors to the David Whitney.”
Brandon and Karissa Davis named Presley’s Kitchen + Bar after their 9-year-old daughter. The couple is opening the restaurant through their New Hudson company, the Davis Hospitality group. Their portfolio includes Novella’s Pizza in Milford as well as a presence inside the multi-purpose Ford Field stadium.
Presley’s Kitchen is a concept centered on wood-fire grilled food made from locally sourced ingredients. It will have seating for 150 guests, including a 30-seat bar and sidewalk patio along Woodward Avenue, the Free Press reported.
“We want to be progressive and unique but not the place you only come to once a year,” Brandon Davis told the daily newspaper. “It’s approachable but very polished and good.”
