A longtime Grandville bar and restaurant appears to be returning, according to news reported by Crain’s Grand Rapids. The Villa and The Dungeon, also known as Grand Villa Restaurant and The Dungeon Bar, has found new owners who plan to turn the 3594 Chicago Dr. SW establishment into a new event space.

The new owners, Manoj and Nina Mulki have worked diligently to rebrand and reopen the business. Records indicate the pair completed liquor license transfers last December to the newly registered business name VILLA BAR BANQUET & ENTERTAINMENT, LLC. The downstairs bar will keep the same name, The Dungeon, and operate under a speakeasy setting with a lounge-style space that can house up to 150 people. Crain’s reported that The Dungeon will feature a global menu and host live music and other events.

Meanwhile, the Tex-Mex restaurant portion of the business, formerly known as the Grand Villa restaurant, will be transformed into an entirely new concept operating as an event space for weddings, concerts, and corporate events. The 7,000-square-foot space will hold up to 300 people and is equipped with a full bar and bride and groom suites.

Manoj Mulki also operates M&K Construction Supply LLC in Byron Township. Mulki told Crain’s that he hoped the new Villa and The Dungeon would “offer a space for customers who would otherwise have to head downtown for upscale dining.” The space is anticipated to open sometime in May.

What Now Detroit reached out to the owners but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage.
