After decades of service, a pub in the Canton Township neighborhood has closed. The Bowery Grille and Pub served its final dinner on August 5. The restaurant shared the closure announcement on social media.
The Bowery Grille and Pub Bid Farewell to the Community
Located at 41275 Ford Road in Canton Township, The Bowery Grille and Pub was well-known for its easygoing, relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant featured warm wood interiors, a wraparound bar, and a menu centered on comfort food. The menu included steaks, gourmet burgers, and seafood, paired with strong drinks and craft beers on tap.
The business originally operated as a 24-hour coffee shop and was named the Palace Restaurant. Later on, the restaurant was named The Bowery Grille and Pub and built a strong following in the region.
The Bowery closed permanently on August 5. In the closure announcement, the restaurant shared that after many years of service and good times, it has closed.
The team thanked the community and said, “To every guest who walked through our doors, every regular who made this their spot, and every server, cook, and bartender who poured their heart into this place, thank you.”
According to a Detroit Free Press report, owner Ron Ayyash sold the building, which led to the restaurant’s closure. The new developers of the property plan to demolish the building and build a multi-tenant space. The plans are currently being reviewed.
Community Responses on Social Media
Following the closure announcement, several longtime customers of the restaurant expressed their disappointment on social media.
One of the customers commented, “Became the spot to have a nice meal and a drink with friends after a long week. We all moved further away, so we weren’t making it out as much. Sucks to see you guys close, but we will be out again before close!! Thank you for the good memories!”
Another community member wrote, “So sad to hear! We’ve made a lot of friends there. The Bowery used to be like a second living room for us back in the day.”
The closure of The Bowery marked the end of a significant pub in the Canton community.
