Popular Restaurant Chain to Join New Development in Downtown Kalamazoo

Bobcat Bonnie's has confirmed its upcoming location at Arcadia Lofts, a new residential development addressing Kalamazoo's housing needs.

Bobcat Bonnie’s has confirmed that it will be joining a new apartment complex with ground floor commercial spaces in Downtown Kalamazoo called Arcadia Lofts. The vacant commercial building at 225 N. Rose St. previously housed multiple offices, including Intersect, an architecture firm that relocated to the Exchange Building. The news was first seen on MLive.

Arcadia Lofts, an 82-unit residential development spearheaded by PlazaCorp as the developer, was recently granted a $4.875 million loan from the state’s Michigan Strategic Fund, which will partially fund the forecasted $32.7 million project. According to the MLive coverage, the grant will be used to turn the existing building into a mixed-use site.

Bobcat Bonnie’s initially announced they’d be joining Arcadia Lofts last May. Earlier this month, owner Matt Buskard confirmed the upcoming location again with MLive. This will be the chain’s eighth location The brand’s latest location opened in February in a historic train station in Lansing. What Now Detroit reached out to Buskard for more details but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage.

Established by Buskard in 2015 in Detroit’s Corktown, Bobcat Bonnie’s is all about providing “fresh, value-oriented food with high-quality, inviting service in a fun, unique atmosphere.” The restaurant offers a full menu with sandwiches, burgers, and entrees, and serves brunch on the weekends with special vegan options.
