Detroit could be getting a new fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant.

CAVA is proposed for a ground-floor space at 636 Woodward Avenue, according to construction documents. The restaurant would be about 3,000 square feet, according to the plans.

This would be the first CAVA location in Michigan. The menu includes bowls with greens and grains and a variety of pitas, along with flavorful dips and dressings.

The restaurant would be located in Downtown Detroit. Other nearby dining options include Chipotle and Shake Shack.

CAVA comes from Chef Dimitri MoshovitisIke Grigoropoulos and Ted Xenohristos, who opened it in 2010 along with co-founder Brett Schulman. CAVA currently does not franchise; all locations are company-owned.

In addition to a focus on flavorful and nutritious food, the brand is “rooted in the entire Mediterranean meal experience, notably that feeling-so-cared-for genuine expression of hospitality and warmth,” according to the company website.
