A popular local vegan pop-up is expanding into a brick-and-mortar space in Corktown.

Street Beet is planned for 1800 Michigan Avenue in the space formerly occupied by the gastropub Bobcat Bonnie’s, which recently announced its closure at the flagship location. Bobcat Bonnie’s had been at the space since 2015.

Street Beet, owned by Meghan Shaw, is expected to serve breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner, as well as mocktails, The Detroit News reports. There will be a walk-up window for extra convenience. It will be joined at the space by Washed Up Coffee, a new multi-roaster coffee concept.

Founded in 2018, Street Beet specializes in plant-based comfort food inspired by popular fast-food items. Menu items have included smash burgers, tacos, buttery biscuits, crunchwraps, Philly cheesesteaks, desserts and more.

Street Beet is targeting a summer opening. Until then, the pop-up can currently be found at Third Street Bar at 4626 3rd Avenue.

Street Beet is currently hiring for kitchen staff.
