Rev. Winston Taylor Jr. is pushing forward with his mission to spark an economic renaissance in the neighborhoods near where he grew up. According to a recent permit filing with the City of Atlanta, the retired architect turned community planner is building out a bar, at 960 MLK Jr. Dr. The bar would encompass part of the 6,683-square-foot building that Taylor purchased in 2016, with outdoor seating in the parking pad.

When Taylor purchased the property four years ago, the office and retail space was in foreclosure. In late 2019, Taylor told the SaportaReport that he plans to incubate as many as 20 businesses out of the space in the hopes that they will grow and move into locations in the neighborhood.

“We bought it with the purpose of incubating lots of businesses,” he told the SaportaReport. “When you look up and down MLK, there are lots of empty buildings and empty spaces.”

Though he hopes to support other Black business owners, the incoming bar is his own project. What Now Atlanta has reached out to Taylor for comment.

      Chandler and Sons Yelp review–

After over three years of waiting for Mr Jim Chandlee senior to live up to his commitment I had to finally take legal action, but he skipped out of his commitment by claiming bankruptcy. Now he has over $100,000 and I am still trying to get him to do what he said he would. I remember his final statement to me “Don’t worry we do this all the time and I am looking forward to a long business relationship. Don’t believe anything he says. His company and more importantly he, is not trustworthy. Bankruptcy and ducking responsibilities is not the way to a long business relationship.
