Scott Grieve has been in the food industry for over 20 years, but his upcoming Butcher on the Whitlock concept will be the first retail shop for the entrepreneur. Butcher on the Whitlock is opening up in Burnt Hickory Village within walking distance of Not As Famous Cookie Co.
Grieve secured a lease for the 1,200 square-foot space, at 800 Whitlock Ave. in Marietta, smack dab between Sawyer Bailey Salon and Minuteman Press of Marietta, in October. Its space — unit 126 — was previously occupied by Advanced Home Care and has been without a tenant since February 2020.
Grieve is looking to open the new butcher shop before the end of the year, early-2021. Additional details on the new shop are scarce as Grieve was brief when reached by What Now Atlanta for comment short of confirming the plans.
Grocery-centric concepts are doing particularly well during the pandemic with new companies popping up, and existing restaurants and retailers adding marketplace components — both in their brick-and-mortar and online. Rumi’s Kitchen is an example of one of many pivoting restaurants this year while Kathleen’s Catch is answering the call for more cooking and less dining out with plans for a new Brookhaven outpost.
FYI – Chicken and the Egg has been closed for some time.
