Cork and Barrel, a restaurant that will specialize in a bourbon and wine collection, hopes to open in May at 190 Plaza Circle Suite A in Santee, which is about 65 miles north of Charleston.
Cork and Barrel are hoping for a May opening, with the company posting a positive food grade from the South Carolina Department of Agriculture on April 28. The first couple of weeks of opening will offer dinner only, followed by both lunch and dinner.
In a Facebook post in January, the company wrote that Cork and Barrel would “specialize in an exquisite selection of wine and bourbon, perfectly paired with our diverse menu of tapas and hand-crafted signature dishes.”
The owners are Dalton and Katharine Taylor, who also own and operate a sister location called Copper House in Holly Hill. According to its website, Copper House offers a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers and seafood dishes, along with tacos and quesadillas.
“Located near the scenic Lake Marion, Cork and Barrel is dedicated to serving not only the local community but also visitors from near and far,” the Facebook post continued.
The new location is in the Santee River Plaza Shopping center off of Highway 6, across the street from the Bank of Clarendon. It was previously the site of Sub Station II, a chain sub shop. Cork and Barrel’s social media shows extensive renovations.
