Kendalia Halle Resurfaces on the Market After Last Year’s Sudden Closure
Schwab Ranch Investments has listed the Kendalia Halle Complex. The asking price for the property is $550,000. “This is truly a property that is unique and these types of properties do not come on the market very often,” the listing read.
Prospective buyers are being offered the 3,500-square-foot Kendalia Halle, the George Elbel Building, which has housed a variety of businesses during its 110 years, and the 825-square-feet residence. The three buildings have an expansive backyard dotted with oak trees.
The property is located on the state highway that passes through the town, making it well-located. The southern part of the Texas Hill Country, where the property is located, has become increasingly popular in recent years. This makes the property suitable for many uses, the listing said.
A Look Into the Past of The Kendalia Halle
The Kendalia locals joined Nicholas Syring Musical Group to build the now iconic landmark back in 1903. The German hall was among the several similar ones that were built at the beginning of the 1900s. The red fir lumber building tells the story of a bygone era, where people from far and wide traveled by wagon to gather and celebrate on weekends.
In the course of its 122-year history, the Texas dance floor became the venue for numerous concerts, plays, dances, and all kinds of social gatherings. Many people have called it one of the best dance floors in Texas.
Lee and Judi Temple, who purchased the property in 1995, are the current owners. After taking over the stewardship of the historic building, they made several renovations while respecting its historic character.
The new owners of Kendalia Halle will be handed over an incredible property that has a place in the memories of the people of Kendalia and the surrounding areas. Time will tell what will become of the beloved venue as it stands at the cusp of a new chapter.
