District diners with a taste for the unique and unexpected, get ready to welcome your next great obsession. Desert 5 Spot, a wholly original concept that seeks to fuse the “rustic allure of of pioneertown and cosmic Americana” is branching out, bringing the distinctive atmosphere (and tacos) that have already charmed New York and Los Angeles to Union Market later this year, reports local media outlet PoPville.
Get ready to experience a chic, disco-country night out, complete with delicious food and dance lessons, at 400 Morse Street, NE. Desert 5 Spot is bringing fresh life to the space that previously housed Palette 22. Though a firm date is not yet on the books for Desert 5 Spot’s DC debut, the concept’s Instagram states that it is aiming for an early fall opening.
Desert 5 Spot is the rhinestone covered brainchild of Ten Five Hospitality. The official website provides some insight to those eager to see what the brand has in store for the District, saying: “Inspired by Joshua Tree hideouts, throwback roadside motels, and western nostalgia, Desert 5 Spot serves up our famous margaritas, specialty cocktails, cold canned beers and LA-approved tacos. Featuring daily live performances by emerging country artists, the Desert 5 House Band, line dancing and two stepping classes, with weekend DJ’s playing country hits all night long, we welcome one and all to leave their tensions and pretensions at the door, put on their boots and let the good times roll.”
Visitors can look forward to sinking their teeth into a selection of Tex-Mex favorites, including tacos, quesadillas, and nachos. Desert 5 Spot invites guests to wash down their meals with one of the bars’ signature cocktails, named after popular country songs.
