A new restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining may soon be added to the Old Village area in Plymouth.

Hometown Life reported that the Old Village train depot at 900 Starkweather Street may be turned into a restaurant and bar in the coming months. This would be called Villager, taking the place of the Plymouth Depot ice cream and coffee shop. The city has been looking to improve the Old Village for a while, with recently planning improvements for the “corridor” as the city calls it.

Bonnie Butler is the listed owner of Califur, which submitted an application to repurpose the old train station. Butler was also the owner of Plymouth Depot, the ice cream and coffee shop at the same location, which is now closed.

According to the Plymouth Planning Commission, this project is still being planned. It is not confirmed when construction will be starting. At the space, there is also proposed patio seating, fire pits and outside games to play. This is to utilize the entire old train station area.

Califur told the city that the menu would have smash burgers, grilled meat skewers, pizzas, gourmet hot dogs and fries. Some of the flavors would have Middle Eastern themes. An official menu has not yet been released.

Other restaurants that have recently been built in the Old Village area are Chicane, Red Ryder Lounge and East Elm Kitchen. Chicane is a steakhouse and entertainment venue that opened in February of this year.
