Crack Taco Shop, a San Diego‑based taqueria born from the same team behind Cardiff’s Seaside Market, is getting ready to open a new location in Coronado at 1009 Orange Ave.
The company’s fourth location appears to be moving into the current home of Poke 123, according to documents submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. It’s unclear when this location of Crack Taco Shop is expected to open, but owner Steve Abbo is still working on a new location coming to Encinitas at 110 Leucadia Blvd. The company currently operates two locations, one in Mission Valley and the other in Seaport Village.
Crack Taco Shop offers a diverse menu featuring tacos, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, nachos, and breakfast items. The signature ingredient is burgundy pepper tri-tip, also known as “Cardiff Crack,” which is used across several dishes. Other proteins include al pastor, pollo asada, birria, shrimp, fish, and vegetarian options like cactus and potato. Tortillas are made in-house daily, and salsas and guacamole are prepared fresh. The shop also serves beer, wine, micheladas, and sangria.
This will be an excellent location for a new Crack Taco Shop. It’s on the island’s main commercial strip with heavy foot traffic from both tourists and locals. Nearby businesses, such as Clayton’s Mexican Takeout, help draw steady crowds. The spot is also close to Hotel del Coronado and the beach, keeping the area busy year-round. Additionally, it’s easily accessible on foot and by bike, making it convenient for everyone.
