A popular New York restaurant has inspired a heavy air of anticipation among DFW foodies. Avra Estiatorio has been renovating a space in The Crescent mixed-use building, and it promises to bring high-end Greek dining to the neighborhood. The concept was initially slated to open this spring, but that deadline has come and gone. However, Dallas diners should take comfort; the light at the end of the delicious tunnel is projected for later this year, reports the Dallas Business Journal.
Avra Estiatorio will be occupying a 13,809 square foot space at 300 Crescent Court Suite 120. Ownership of the restaurant, which aims to recreate the experience of dining on the “whitewashed islands of Greece”, project an autumn of 2025 opening.
The renovations required to transform the space into a bright and beautiful Greek dining mecca are relatively extensive but will certainly prove worth the wait. Paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation describes the work involved as “New additions of a entry vestibule, and enclosed dining pavilions and open dining patios. Two mezzanine spaces of restrooms and kitchen for storage and mechanical.”
Founded by Nick Tsoulos in 2000, Avra’s menu prominently features authentic Greek dishes, many of which were passed down from generation to generation of the Tsoulos family.
Tsoulos previously told Culture Map Dallas about his enthusiasm for introducing Avra to the DFW, saying “We are excited to bring the Avra experience to Dallas, a city known for its up-and-coming culinary scene. Our goal is to create a dining destination that not only offers exceptional food but also transports our guests to the idyllic shores of Greece, right here in Dallas.”
