A pair of family-run French pastry shops will soon be joined by a third location.

Praliné French Patisserie is expanding to 227 Newbury St in Boston’s Back Bay this fall, reports The Boston Sun (via Boston Restaurant Talk). The move marks a sweet new chapter for the brand, which was founded by Executive Pastry Chef Sophie Benyamina.

Growing up in France, Sophie was captivated by the beauty and craftsmanship of traditional French bakeries, according to Praliné’s website. Although she initially pursued a career in the sciences, her love for baking eventually drew her back to the kitchen. Sophie opened Praliné’s flagship location in Belmont in 2013, followed by a second shop in Cambridge’s Central Square in 2021.

The pâtisserie’s menu features an elegant array of French confections and café staples, from airy macarons and glossy éclairs to buttery croissants, quiche, and Parisian flan. Guests can also enjoy custom celebration cakes, fresh salads, sandwiches, and a curated selection of coffee. Tea imported from Mariage Frères—a gourmet French tea house founded in 1854—adds an extra special touch.

Hichem Benyamina, Sophie’s son and a partner in the business, told What Now Boston that the Back Bay location will serve all the signature pastries and savory favorites that fans know and love, along with a few “Newbury specials” that are currently in development. “They won’t be available in any of the other stores,” he teased.

The 1,500-square-foot space will offer seating for around 20 guests indoors, with plans to add a sidewalk patio pending permit approval. Renovations are set to begin once permits are secured, and the newest Praliné French Patisserie is tenatively scheduled to open in October 2025.
