A new wine bar called Wonder Bar is slated to go into a space at 8 Park Place in the Woolworth Building, according to community board filings. The spot is expected to open in the 1,100-square-foot space in the Financial District later this year, according to reporting by the New York Business Journal. It will take over the space that formerly belonged to Five & Dime, which closed earlier this year.

Wonder Bar will function as a fast-casual cafe by day and a wine bar by night. Cammeby’s International and Witkoff — the owners of the Woolworth Building — are partnering with architecture and development firm Studio Castellano on the venture.

The Woolworth Building is currently undergoing a revamp, including changes to restaurant offerings, gathering spaces and the lobby. Wonder Bar is part of the larger revitalization of the historic building.

Studio Castellano owner Ron Castellano confirmed the Wonder Bar concept in a phone call with What Now New York. However, he was not immediately available to provide further details on the concept. Stay tuned for updates as progress on the concept unfolds.
