Chicken has become a major contender in the fast-casual dining scene, rivaling the even the popularity of the beloved burger. The market is saturated with chicken sandwiches and chicken tenders, but a popular chain is helping make sure Plano never suffers poultry fatigue by taking a distinctive approach to the cuisine. Cowboy Chicken prepares its titular dish on a wood-fired rotisserie, and it’s opening a new location in the neighborhood, reports Culture Map Dallas.

The fast-casual phenomenon will be occupying a 2,500 square foot space located at 8245 Preston Road #100. Cowboy Chicken will be able to facilitate between 75 and 80 customers, with accommodations for both the indoor crowd and those who prefer their dining al fresco.

Cowboy Chicken’s Plano storefront will be owned and operated by Vesta Restaurant Group, the team behind 3 other DFW locations. An opening timeline is not presently available, however diners shouldn’t count their chickens just yet. The lease was signed very recently, and the restaurant is still early in its development.

Cowboy Chicken is itself a local to the region. The chain was founded in Dallas in 1981 and has earned great acclaim thanks to its secret house rub, use of locally sourced wood, and all-natural fresh chicken. In addition to its namesake dish, Cowboy Chicken serves brisket, enchiladas, and a range of beloved southern sides.
