Guthrie’s Chicken, an Alabama-based fast-casual chain, is set to open its first Colorado location in Colorado Springs, pending final city approvals. Records show the franchise is working on building a store at the address 1520 S. Nevada Ave.
The site, part of the Creekwalk retail center, will replace a former Family Dollar building with a 2,120-square-foot restaurant featuring a drive-thru and patio seating. Construction is slated to begin on August 1 and finish by December. The property is owned by Roslin Net Lease IV LLC, with Lowell Ross of Nelson-Ross Architects leading design and Jared Roberts of 3 Rocks Engineering providing civil engineering services.
This Colorado Springs location is part of a larger 50-unit area development agreement signed by franchise partners Stephen Galbraith and Matt Dahlhauser of Dahlhauser Galbraith Operating Companies, LLC. Franchise Times first reported the large deal, which spans Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, and New Mexico, back in 2023.
Founded in 1965 by Hal Guthrie, the chain pivoted to a chicken fingers-only menu in 1982, with crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, and coleslaw as sides. Guthrie’s now operates nearly 70 stores across 12 states, and most locations are franchise-owned.
