Bruz Beers is bringing its Belgian-style beers to Golden in a big way, with a two-story taproom, mountain views, a drive-through beer window and a coffee and breakfast concept planned for its new home.
The Denver-based brewery has secured a one-acre property at 17575 South Golden Road, where it plans to develop a new flagship brewery and taproom.
“The two-story taproom will feature a bar on each floor, with the upper and lower levels positioned to take advantage of views toward the mountains and Table Mountain. You’ll be able to see the mountains and Table Mountain, watch the sunsets, that type of stuff,” Bruz Beers co-owner Ryan Evans told What Now.
The project will also include a feature that isn’t exactly standard for a craft brewery: a drive-through window. “It looks like we’re gonna have a drive-through window, which will be pretty exciting,” Evans said. “You’d be able to come up and get beer to go out of a drive-through window.”
Evans said he isn’t sure he’s seen another craft brewery with the same setup, making it one of the more unusual elements planned for the new Bruz location.
The production space will sit on the east side of the building, while the taproom will occupy the other side.
For Evans, the move to Golden is personal. He and his wife, Rachel, live in the city, and the brewery’s new home will put the business in the same community they already call home.
“You know, we’re Golden residents, my wife and I, Rachel. We live here in Golden, and obviously, this is our home, our community, and so we always wanted to be able to expand into the Golden area,” he said.
Finding the right property, however, took some time. Evans said the couple spent roughly five years searching and toured more than 100 properties before landing on the South Golden Road site. “We eventually found this one to be really beautiful. We like the size of it. We like the views, and the potential that that property had,” he said.
The location also puts Bruz in a city Evans already considers a standout in Colorado’s brewery scene.
“Obviously, being in Golden was a great bonus for us. We’re looking forward to bringing the brand home and joining what I think is probably the best beer city in Colorado,” Evans said.
He added that the brewery community in Golden is already filled with businesses the Bruz team considers friends, making the move feel like a natural fit.
The new brewery won’t be solely focused on beer, either. Bruz plans to include a coffee and breakfast restaurant within the building, giving the property a reason to welcome customers well before the taps open.
The restaurant is expected to open around 7 a.m., with the overall space planned to remain open until roughly 9 p.m. “So that space will really be a good contribution to the community there too,” Evans said.
Food will remain part of the Bruz experience. Current offerings include baked pretzels, frozen pizzas, tinned fish and other casual fare, while the brewery’s Midtown location regularly hosts food trucks.
The Golden location is expected to give Bruz considerably more room for brewing operations while creating a larger destination for customers. Its current taprooms are known for patios, events, tastings, classes and the annual Belgian Brew Fest.
The move west will eventually bring an end to Bruz’s time at its Off Fax location at 1495 York St. in Denver. The brewery plans to hold a final celebration there on September 24 before closing the location. For now, Bruz continues to operate its Midtown and Off Fax locations as the Golden project moves through the approval process.
Evans said the company is currently working with the city on approvals and construction documents, with hopes of starting construction early next year.
The project is being designed by Ewers Architecture, a local Golden firm that has worked on projects throughout the city. Construction is expected to get underway in the coming months, with a grand opening tentatively planned for mid-2028.
When Bruz Beers finally opens its doors in Golden, the brewery will offer more than a new place to grab a beer. Customers will be able to start the day with coffee and breakfast, pick up beer through the drive-through window, or settle into one of the two bars and watch the sun set over the mountains.
For Evans and Rachel, it will also bring the brewery into the community they already call home. “We’re looking forward to bringing the brand home,” Evans said.
