According to a recently submitted permit application, a new, yet-to-be-named dining concept is preparing to open in Berkeley.
Coming to 2517 Durant Avenue, Suite C, landing near establishments such as the casual coffeehouse Cafe Milano, Gypsy’s Trattoria Italiana, and Super Duper Burgers, the restaurant will be within walking distance of UC Berkeley.
What Now San Francisco spoke briefly with the concept’s owner, Luyen Tran; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, the filing describes the concept as a bahn mi sandwich shop. It’s likely that other fresh Vietnamese dishes will also be offered, such as spring rolls, pho, and papaya salad.
The Durant Avenue address was formerly home to a restaurant named Cafe Durant, a cafe that offered coffee-based beverages and snacks, where locals and students alike could relax or stay for a while and get some work done; however, the establishment shuttered after having its liquor license revoked for selling to minors in 2018.
An opening date has not been announced yet. Follow What Now San Francisco on Facebook for updates.
