A local group of New York-style bagel shops is expanding once again.
Co-founders Randal Noller and Stephen Ashkinos are preparing to open their fourth New York Bagel Factory at 145 Great Rd in Acton late this fall, reports Boston Restaurant Talk. The bagelry will take over the former KJ’s Caffè space.
The duo launched their first shop in Framingham in 2013 and has since expanded to Southborough and Newtonville, earning a loyal following with their scratch-made bagels crafted the New York way.
“At NY Bagel Factory, we stay true to the traditions of New York bagel-making,” Ashkinos told What Now Boston. “Every bagel is rolled, boiled, and baked to perfection — giving you that chewy inside and crisp outside that makes a real bagel unforgettable.”
The Acton location will seat about 50 guests inside, with additional seating on the patio. It will also be the first outpost to feature both a full kitchen and an on-site coffee program. “This store will have dough-making, baking on-site, fresh cracked eggs, the most updated equipment, and make all the specialty coffee drinks as well,” explained Noller.
Diners can expect all-day breakfast favorites mirroring the Newtonville menu, from simple schmears to hearty handhelds like The Broadway (eggs, jalapeño, tomato, avocado, salsa, and pepper jack cheese) and Hell’s Kitchen (spicy chorizo, eggs, avocado, salsa, and pepper jack cheese).
For lunch, the menu includes classics such as The New York Pizza Bagel, Tuna Melt, and Whitefish Salad. Select sandwiches also feature corned beef and pastrami sourced from New York’s iconic Carnegie Deli. Coffee lovers can look forward to NY Bagel Factory’s signature iced coffee made with coffee ice cubes, ensuring every sip stays smooth and strong.
Construction is expected to take roughly eight weeks, with the Acton bagelry slated to open right around Thanksgiving. Initial hours are planned for 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, with the potential for adjustments after opening.
