European-Style Cafe to Open in Downtown Charleston with Coffee by Day, Wine by Night

Nook Tiny Cafe and Market will offer morning coffee and pastries, plus an evening wine, beer and charcuterie menu.

A European-style cafe serving fresh baked goods by day and an elevated wine experience by night is set to open in Downtown Charleston in September. 

Nook Tiny Cafe and Market will take over the former Guilded Horn space at 267 Rutledge Ave., located next to Kultura, a Filipino restaurant also set to open this fall.

“Guilded Horn is taking on new life. We’re not closing…we’re adapting, pivoting, evolving…shapeshifting, if you will…a brand new concept, a brand new brand! We’ve partnered with a dream team to execute on the vision. Stay tuned for 2.0…we hope to see you there!” Rutledge Baker, former owner of Guilded Horn, shared on Instagram.

The cafe will partner with Owen Bernstein, Andy Forstall and Richard Saad. The trio also owns Cramer’s Kitchen in Mount Pleasant, with Bernstein serving as the chef.

Baker will retain a stake in the new cafe; the opportunity to take over the space came as he explored expanding into morning hours, according to The Post and Courier.

Nook is planning a coffee-focused counter with seating, featuring beans from Greenville-based Methodical Coffee and latte art to elevate both the drink and the experience. 

In the mornings, the cafe will offer pastries and grab-and-go items. In the evenings, the new spot will transform with a wine program offering curated wines, imported beers and charcuterie plates.

The cafe is set to serve coffee from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and wine and beer from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
