El Cerro Mexican Bar and Grill is trading places in Garden City.

The longtime spot at 3167 S. Hwy. 17 closed on Aug. 24, but fans won’t have to go far for their next visit—the restaurant is reopening just across the street.

“Our new location will be opening soon across the street. We are so thrilled to have a better and bigger space, a more convenient parking lot, and improved environment for our customers and staff! While our goal is to open as soon as possible it will take some time to get us all set up,” the restaurant shared via Facebook.

El Cerro’s menu spans from shareable appetizers and specialty tacos to sizzling fajitas and seafood plates. Highlights include Arroz con Pollo, Enchiladas Poblanas, Diablo Shrimp and the El Cerro Special with ribeye, chicken and shrimp. Guests can also choose from chimichangas, burritos, fresh salads and a kids’ menu, with lunch specials served daily.

“Our White queso and chips and salsa…so good!! Our popular mini chimis, sizzling Fajitas and cowboy chimichangas, can’t go wrong. Our delicious enchiladas poblanas, and not to mention our full selection of bar drinks,” the Facebook page reads.

El Cerro operates eight locations, including its Garden City restaurant, with additional outposts in Surfside Beach, Conway, Georgetown, Carolina Forest and Myrtle Beach. All locations are open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

What Now Charleston reached out to the El Cerro Mexican Bar and Grill team regarding the new location, however, they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
