A new sushi spot is headed to Elk Grove.

Sean Mi, owner of Ginza Sushi & Grill in Rio Linda, is bringing a sister concept called Ginza EG Japanese Cuisine to the city. According to recently filed licensing documents, the new eatery will take over the former Sushimono space at 9624 Bruceville Rd, Suite 100, in the Elk Grove Commons shopping mall.

Unlike the laid-back vibe of Ginza Sushi & Grill, which Mi opened just five months ago, Ginza EG Japanese Cuisine will lean refined, with a spotlight on omakase dining.

“It’s more high-end,” Mi told What Now Sacramento, emphasizing the new restaurant’s elevated approach.

Omakase translates to “I leave the details up to you,” and guests can expect to hand over the reins to the chef for a curated, multi-course meal that might include dishes like seasonal sashimi, specialty nigiri, and intricate appetizers.

Mi has been in the sushi business for over a decade, previously managing two restaurants before launching Ginza Sushi & Grill. Ginza EG Japanese Cuisine is expected to debut in early November 2025, said Mi.
