Ambrogio15 Pacific Beach, a Milano-style pizzeria, is preparing to rebrand as Ambrogio15 – Modern Trattoria & Gourmet Pizza in San Diego at 926 Turquoise Street.
The rebranded restaurant is expected to open on October 9 and will continue operating at its current location in Pacific Beach, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Ambrogio15 will maintain its popular signature pizzas while expanding its menu with seasonal pasta dishes and new entrees. While an exact reopening event has yet to be announced, customers can expect an updated menu featuring classic Milanese pizzas alongside pasta creations developed by Michelin-star-trained chefs.
Ambrogio15 was founded in 2016 by two Milanese entrepreneurs who combined their Italian heritage with San Diego’s culinary scene. The Pacific Beach location became known for its paper-thin crust Milano-style pizzas made with a patented dough recipe and organic Italian ingredients. The restaurant has also earned accolades as one of San Diego’s best pizza spots from multiple local publications.
The rebrand reflects the company’s evolution, following expansions that included multiple dining concepts and food hall locations. This move signals a shift toward a broader Italian dining experience that balances traditional pizza offerings with innovative pasta and entree dishes, leveraging expertise from Italian chefs with Michelin experience.
The updated menu will include seasonal pastas, such as spaghettone with clams and sea urchin, and rigatoni with Calabrese nduja sausage. It will also feature classic dishes like carbonara and Alfredo, with many options priced under $20. Entrees will feature options such as sliced Tuscan steak and filet mignon, paired with Barolo wine and black truffle sauce, ranging from $34 to $49.
“My main goal is to serve the best pasta in San Diego at an affordable price, where the classics are made to perfection with a strong focus on the ingredients, and they are complemented by some more creative/unique dishes,” Co-founder Giacomo Pizzigoni tells the San Diego Union-Tribune.
