The Pullman/Roseland community is set to gain its first hotel in decades, following the Chicago Plan Commission’s approval of a Hampton by Hilton. 9th Ward Alderman Anthony A. Beale announced the approval, and the construction is expected to begin in 2026.

Highlights

  • The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a $30 million Hampton by Hilton hotel in Pullman/Roseland.
  • The Pullman Hotel Group will build 101 rooms across four stories.
  • Thoughtful amenities and 25 new jobs expected upon opening.

Approval of a New Hotel Transforms the Pullman/Roseland Community

The approval marks a milestone for Pullman/Roseland, which will soon welcome a Hampton by Hilton hotel. The development will introduce a new hotel to the region by adding 101 guest rooms, announced by 9th Ward Alderman Anthony A. Beale.

It will be the first nationally branded hotel built south of Hyde Park in more than 40 years.

“I am proud to announce the development of the latest community amenity in the works for the 9th Ward and the Far South Side, the first nationally branded hotel that will add to the vibrancy of the community and the Lake Calumet Region,” said Alderman Beale. “We are one step closer to offering a place for visitors to stay, coming to do business, or to come to play in a tournament, or to just spend time with friends and family,” added Alderman Beale.

Strategic Location and Hotel Features

The hotel will rise at 111th Street and Doty Avenue, near Interstate 94 and the Bishop Ford Expressway. The site anchors a growing hub for business, tourism, and community activity.

It will be near major destinations such as the Pullman National Park Visitor Center, the State of Illinois Historic Site, and the expansive 180-acre Pullman Park. There are already big employers across the surrounding area, like SC Johnson, Gotham Greens, Whole Foods Midwest Distribution Center, Amazon, and numerous emerging restaurants and retail outlets.

Plans call for a four-story, 62,000-square-foot hotel with 101 rooms, a business center, fitness facility, indoor pool, and surface parking. The project is expected to create 25 jobs with support from the Chicago Recovery Grant.

“Hilton is proud to join with all the partners in the Pullman and Roseland community who have driven the renaissance and transformed the area into a model for community renewal,” said Andre F. Garner, spokesperson for the Hotel Group.

The approval marks another milestone in Pullman/Roseland’s ongoing renewal, expanding hospitality options and supporting economic growth on Chicago’s Far South Side.
