One of the iconic Italian pastry brands, Fiasconaro, officially opened its doors in SoHo, New York, on October 16. This new opening marked the pastry brand’s first US flagship store.

The new pop store of Fiasconaro serves the brand’s popular and naturally leavened panettone, spreadable creams, and other artisanal Italian pastries. The brand takes pride in its hallmarked pastry tradition; it represents the excellence of Made in Italy and combines Sicilian heritage with a contemporary spirit.

Nicola Fiasconaro shared, “For us, being in New York today is, in some ways, a natural step. For over thirty years, Made in Italy has triumphed here—from the first panettoni showcased at the Fancy Food Show to today.”

To celebrate the 70-year family legacy with New York, Master Pastry Chef Nicola Fiasconaro traveled from Sicily with his brother Fausto and third-generation member Agata. Nicola Fiasconaro received the prestigious title of Cavaliere del Lavoro from President Mattarella in 2020.

“With this Fiasconaro flagship store, we are bringing our Sicily to the heart of SoHo—its colors, scents, and harmonies that tell the story of Italian beauty,” added Nicola Fiasconaro.

Ribbon-Cutting Celebrations

Led by Consul General of Italy Fabrizio Di Michele, Fiasconaro celebrated the opening of the new store with a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony. Other distinguished guests, like actress Whoopi Goldberg and Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano of the European Space Agency, were also part of the celebration.

Astronaut Parmitano’s presence during the ribbon-cutting ceremony highlighted Fiasconaro’s cosmic connection, as the brand’s panettone famously journeyed into space. In 2007, Fiasconaro’s panettone made a historic space journey with astronaut Paolo Nespoli to NASA’s Space Shuttle Discovery.

“Having Luca Parmitano here in New York today is a great honor. Sicily is a land that always rises again—it radiates light, art, and culture. We share with him a bond of respect and friendship—he often surprises us by visiting us in Castelbuono—and we share the pride of bringing Italian beauty and talent to the world,” said Nicola Fiasconaro.

Throughout the celebration, New Yorkers enjoyed the tasting of signature Sicilian artisanal panettone, artisanal spreads, and traditional confections. In the evening, Brooklyn indie band Beach Fossils, along with a DJ set, made the opening celebrations musical and more lively.

Furthermore, Chef Ugo Mattei of Prima Cucina Corp. enhanced the culinary experience for the evening with savory dishes paired with Donnafugata wines, offering guests a true taste of Italian celebration.

Legacy of Fiasconaro Through Generations

Fiasconaro, a Castelbuono family-run pastry house, was founded in 1953, and since then it has been a pioneer of Sicilian-style panettone. The business is currently led by its second and third generations.

Under the leadership of master pastry chef Nicola Fiasconaro and his brothers Fausto and Martino, the brand has become a global name and is spread across 65 countries. The brand was a 2023 candidate for the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

Fiasconaro brings the authentic taste of Sicily to New York, blending tradition, innovation, and Italian artistry with this new SoHo flagship store. This new store further strengthened the brand’s commitment to global reach.
