A popular Japanese supermarket chain from New York City will soon make its Massachusetts debut.
Hashi Market is opening its first two Massachusetts locations at 1341 Beacon St in Brookline and 580 Massachusetts Ave in Cambridge, according to the company’s website. The Cambridge location will also feature a Fujiissa, Hashi’s sister concept specializing in matcha and ice cream, but it’s unclear if the Brookline site will offer the same.
Founded in 2023, Hashi Market offers everything from fresh produce and international pantry staples to grab-and-go Japanese meals prepared daily by chefs using premium, air-flown ingredients, including restaurant-quality sushi, donburi, and bento boxes ready to enjoy at home.
Meanwhile, Fujiissa brings a playful twist to dessert, serving up signature creations like the Blue Matcha Latte, Matcha Crêpe Cake, and Mochi Ice Cream, alongside a variety of other matcha-based beverages and sweets.
Hashi Market currently boasts seven locations across New York and California, while Fujiissa operates three outposts in New York and Georgia. According to a recent Cambridge Day report, the upcoming Cambridge market will occupy both the former Expressions store and the lower-level space that once housed Artist & Craftsman Supply, totaling nearly 15,000 square feet.
Opening dates for the Brookline and Cambridge markets have not yet been announced, but What Now Boston has reached out to representatives for more details. Stay tuned for updates.
