The College Inn Pub, a longtime staple in Seattle’s University District, has reopened under new ownership. It remains in its historic home inside the College Inn Hotel, one of the last surviving buildings from the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition.
“For over 50 years, The College Inn Pub served as the University District’s cozy, quirky, and beloved gathering spot. From trivia nights and dart games to impromptu weddings and Jeopardy watch parties, the Pub was a place where memories were made — and often scribbled on napkins,” the pub’s website reads.
The pub closed its doors in June under former owner Jen Gonyer and is now under the ownership of Jae Chang. Chang is already a familiar face in the area, running Café Happy, the boba shop located upstairs in the same building, according to The Daily.
Chang, along with co-manager Mark Kuntz, who has spent more than two years at the pub, plans to preserve its nostalgic charm while keeping it fresh and relevant. They aim to refine and build on the strategies established by the previous management.
The College Inn Pub will feature a renovated kitchen, retaining some classic favorites while introducing new dishes and drinks. The interior has been refreshed, with new artwork on the walls and a rearranged layout, the outlet reported.
They plan to bring back Tuesday night trivia and the pool league, possibly add a DJ for Saturday evenings, and are working on building an online presence to share event updates.
The reopening is expected to rekindle nostalgia among University of Washington faculty, staff and students.
