Nick Bodor, the founder of Baker Falls in East Village, has plans for a new concept in Hell’s Kitchen. The spot, whose name is yet to be announced, is aiming to open at 807 Ninth Avenue, according to recent filings with the community board. Bar Nine closed in the space at the end of July after an 11-year run.

The new concept is expected to serve as a cafe-bar. Proposed menu items include soups and salads such as lobster bisque, winter harvest salad and Caesar salad; shareables like crispy calamari and yellowfin tuna tartare; sandwiches such as grilled chicken paninis, burgers and BLTs; and entrees such as grilled salmon, rigatoni bolognese and lemon herb risotto.

Plans call for 33 tables with 67 seats, as well as a 13-seat bar. The proposed hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. daily.

An opening timeline remains unclear. What Now New York has reached out to Bodor for additional details.

Bodor opened Baker Falls in the summer of 2023. Baker Falls is an all-day cafe concept with coffee and non-alcoholic drinks that also offers a bar and performance space at night, featuring live music, DJs and more. The goal of Baker Falls is to serve as a gathering space. Its website describes it as “an oasis in the heart of New York City’s East Village where you can attend live performances, crash a late-night dance party, grab coffee, have a meal, sip cocktails, buy and sell goods…pretty much anything you can think of in a brick and mortar establishment.”

It appears that the Hell’s Kitchen concept will offer a similar cafe-bar concept as Baker Falls.

Bodor is also part of the team behind The Library Bar, as well as previous local spots such as alt.coffee and Bruar Falls, according to his Instagram page.
